Conjuring up images of beaches, great diving and lemurs, Madagascar, while still relatively young in its tourism industry, is attractive more and more people wanting a destination 'off the beaten track'. Antananarivo the capital, often abbreviated as 'Tana', has a distinct French flair to it but the people of this massive island are a mix of Indo-Polynesians with a dose of east African. Parc National de l'Isalo, Parc National de Ranomafana and Andasibe-Mantadia National Park are where we trek in the hope to spot as many of the 32 species of lemur found only in Madagascar. The relax on the beaches of Ifaty in the south or Nosy Be in the north, the later a great point to set off on a dhow sailing island hopping adventure.
