My girlfriend and I recently travelled in Morocco - we'd been told by so many people we should try it, and I must say the place didn't disappoint!
Each day was a highlight, as we travelled from north to south in a huge downwards arc. I didn't realise the variety of landscapes Morocco has! Travelling from the Atlantic Ocean to the hot and dusty desert interior, we passed vineyards, alpine mountains, deep rock gorges and massive sand dunes all in the space of a few days. The highlights of the tour are way too numerous to mention but navigating our way through the labyrinth of narrow alleyways, smells and people of Fez was dizzyingly wondrous! Getting swept up in the noise and smells of the tanneries and dodging loaded donkeys in the alleys, it was amazing to absorb and be absorbed into the chaotic order of one of the last truly medieval city's left in this world. This contrasted massively to balancing on the precipice of an immense terracotta orange sand dune in the Sahara Desert. Here we both had one of those travel 'moments' you can't beat, as we watched the sun set over the beautiful landscape and realised how lucky we were to be in such a place. C'est la vie!
Finally, welcoming Essaouira's music was as soothing as the local sea breezes and as we listened we found ourselves easily caught up with others in the nostalgia and melancholy of travel life on tour through this most magical of place, Morocco.
