Join in the fun and help keep Africa alive and kicking!

To celebrate South Africa hosting the 2010 Football World Cup, we've teamed up with charity Footballs for Fun to spread a little of the beautiful game across Africa. All our Overland trucks are carrying specially designed footballs, available for our passenger to buy. The idea? That somewhere along the journey you'll be able to enjoy a game of footy with local kids and then donate the ball to their school or team. Simple!

In rural Africa footballs are a luxury - kids even fashion balls out of twisted branches, such is the desire to enjoy a game. We're encouraging our groups to club together and put a smile on children's faces, providing them with a brand new football. Rather than giving them away on the street, we try to visit schools and associations where we can enjoy a game, spread some laughter and fun and then donate the ball to the group for their continued use.

Balls cost US$20 and all the profits (US$4-5 per ball) go to a range of African charities supporting underprivileged children and AIDS suffers as well as organisations providing clean water and sanitation to rural villages. Among them are Starfish www.starfishcharity.org and Just a Drop www.justadrop.org

Our footballs also all carry the FAIRTRADE logo and have been made through sustainable business projects in Pakistan.

As well supporting charities and local kids, you'll get the chance to benefit from the campaign, by meeting local people and having fun. Well that's our goal...!
