DAYS 1 - 2, Kruger National Park

Our tour begins in Johannesburg - the ‘City of Gold’, one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the African continent. Starting early, we travel east through the Mpumalanga province, past scenic escarpments to the Greater Kruger area. Kruger is South Africa’s premier national park and, connecting with parks in adjoining Mozambique and Botswana, covers 24,000 square kilometres of land used in the protection of African wildlife! We enjoy a full day’s game viewing in the national park, seeking wildlife encounters with Africa’s ‘Big Five’ - lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard - as well as giraffe, hippo, zebra, various antelope and a variety of amazing birdlife and reptiles. There is also the option of a night drive in an adjoining private game reserve.

DAYS 3 - 5, Chobe National Park Botswana

Leaving Kruger, we move north through the rural Waterberg region before crossing the border into Botswana. A vast country with a relatively small population, Botswana is wealthy in mineral resources - mainly diamonds. We pass through Francistown and the tiny settlement of Nata on the long drive to Kasane in the extreme north of the country. We camp near Chobe National Park before taking a game viewing cruise on the Chobe River. Sit back, relax and watch elephant, buffalo and hippo wallowing in the river shallows. Chobe is also known for its prolific birdlife; glimpse the famous fish eagle as it swoops into the river to feed.

DAY 6, Victoria Falls, Livingstone

On the last day of the tour we cross into Zambia on the Kazangula Ferry and drive east to Livingstone. Our camp is on the banks of the Zambezi River. Just downstream is Victoria Falls, one of the most spectacular sights in Africa and the perfect place to end our African Insight tour.
