DAYS 1 - 3, Cape Town, Gariep River
We begin with a fascinating tour of Cape Town’s townships and a traditional lunch before travelling through the Western Cape and Namaqualand en route to our river camp on the peaceful Gariep (Orange) River. Our first stop in Namibia is at the dramatic Fish River Canyon – the second-largest canyon in the world after America’s Grand Canyon.
DAYS 4 - 7, Namib Nakluft National Park, Swakopmund
Further north we enter the Namib Naukluft Park, spanning the world’s oldest desert. We explore this stunning area, home to the world’s highest sand dunes. We also get the chance to climb a dune for a dramatic view across the vast sea of sand. Our next stop is Swakopmund, sandwiched between desert and ocean. Relax at this wonderful coastal resort and maybe try your hand at quadbiking, sand-boarding and skydiving for some pulse-quickening adventure!
DAYS 8 - 11, Cape Cross, Etosha National Park, Windhoek
Further north up the coast we come to the enormous Cape Cross Seal Colony, home to some 80,000 seals. We pass on through the spectacular rock formations of Damaraland to Spitzkoppe, and camp among the massive rock outcrops near ancient bushman paintings. At Etosha National Park, set around a huge salt pan, we enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. We camp for two nights next to floodlit waterholes where we can watch wildlife come in from the desert to drink. Our final leg takes us to Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city, where our safari ends.
