DAYS 1 - 8, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater

From Nairobi we cross the Great Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok and into the Masai Mara Game Reserve for some exciting wildlife encounters. From our camp on the edge of the park, we enjoy afternoon and morning game drives in pursuit of the ‘Big Five’. From the ‘Mara’, we travel back to Nairobi and onward to Arusha in Tanzania. At the Meserani Snake Park, we view a full range of African reptiles and take a guided walk to a local Masai village. Transferring to 4x4 vehicles, we venture into the Serengeti National Park, Olduvai Gorge and the Ngorongoro Crater on a 3-day excursion. Drink in the views of the crater floor from the top of its high walls, listen to the sounds of the African bush as we camp out in the middle of the Serengeti and revel in the amazing animals we see on morning and afternoon game drives in these worldclass reserves.

DAYS 9 - 14, Zanzibar, Mikumi National Park, Malawi

We cross vast tracts of savannah to reach the port city of Dar es Salaam, the excursion point for Zanzibar. On Zanzibar there are sandy beaches and warm Indian Ocean waters to be enjoyed on the coast, and alleyways, historic architecture and tempting markets in bustling Stone Town. The island is a perfect break from our trip with its relaxed charm, warm smiles and wonderful seafood. Back on the mainland, we have time to browse the curio markets before driving via Mikumi National Park into Malawi.

DAYS 15 - 21, Lake Malawi, Zambia

Malawi is one of the friendliest countries on tour and home to the third-largest fresh water lake on the continent. We travel south along the shore of Lake Malawi stopping at various camps en route. At chilled-out Kande Beach try scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing and horse riding or simply take a fascinating village walk. We leave the lake and enter Zambia, stopping near its capital, Lusaka.

DAYS 22 - 25, Livingstone, Victoria Falls (Zambia)

We arrive at Livingstone close to Africa’s Victoria Falls. This is Africa’s adrenaline capital, with white water rafting, bungy jumping and gorge-swinging available to name but a few! For something more relaxing why not take an elephant back safari, walking safari, scenic flight or sunset cruise? We include a visit to the spectacular ‘Falls’ before leaving the area. N.B. DAYS 26 - 30, Chobe National Park

Leaving the overland truck we continue our journey in smaller vehicles, heading into Botswana and the town of Kasane. Chobe National Park is famed for its huge herds of elephant and there is an option to enjoy an afternoon game drive or a game viewing river cruise on the Chobe River as the sun sets over the park.

DAYS 31 - 32, Maun, Okavango Delta, Kharma Rhino Sanctuary, Johannesburg

We continue south to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We explore its reed- filled channels by mokoro and its island sanctuaries by foot. For a memorable view of the delta, choose to take a scenic flight above the wetlands! We then head south, stopping at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary to view the magnificent animals at close quarters. Across the border in South Africa we enjoy views across the Mpumalanga region before arriving in Johannesburg, where our safari ends.
