Discover the ancient wonders of Egypt along the river Nile, to charming Alexandria and the barren Western Desert.
Day 1 - 2, Cairo, Pyramids and Sphinx
In Cairo you have a couple of days to explore some of the famous city sights at leisure. Popular attractions to visit include Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza and the world class Egyptian Museum. In the evening catch the first class train to Aswan.
Day 3 - 4, Aswan, Felucca Cruise
Explore the sights around Aswan at leisure including the bazaar, one of the countries best, a local Nubian village for an unforgettable insight into the life and culture of the Nubian people or take an excursion to Abu Simbel (own expense), the choice is yours.
Day 5 - 6, Felucca Sailing
A highlight of any Egypt trip is to take to the waters of the Nile in a traditional boat or felucca. Our Nubian crew members provide for us while you watch life along the river. At night we sleep on the felucca and during the day sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.
Day 7 - 8, Luxor, West and East Banks
Luxor is a virtual open air museum and you have a range of places to visit here. Most popular sights include Karnak Temple and the Pharaoh's rock-hewn tombs in the valleys of the Kings.
Day 9, Alexandria
Today we head to the Mediterranean coast and Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt, known as the pearl of the Mediterranean. Spend time soaking up the atmosphere of this once grand city or check out the Kom ash-Shuqqafa catacombs, a huge Roman
burial site.
Days 10 - 11, Siwa
The desert oasis of Siwa with its extraordinarily lush vegetation and relaxed pace seems a world away from the bustle of Alexandria. Explore the vast, maze-like ruins of the mud brick fort which overlooks the town. We also visit Mountain of the Dead and Temple of the Oracle before enjoying a perfect desert sunset
Day 12 - 14, Western Desert
We spend the next few days discovering the Western Desert region of Egypt. This area borders Libya in
the west and Sudan in the south. It is filled with small and isolated, yet thriving, oases. Experience the nomadic lifestyle of local Bedouin living in this enchanting landscape.
Day 15, Cairo
Back in Cairo enjoy some last minute shopping at the Khan aal-Khalili bazaar before the tour ends.
