Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are the best known game
parks of East Africa - experience them all in a comprehensive 10
day safari.
Day
1 - 2, Great Rift Valley, Masai Mara
From Nairobi, cross the Great Rift Valley to the famous Masai Mara
Game Reserve. From our base at Talek River we explore the rolling
plains, rocky outcrops and deep green winding rivers full of hippos
and crocs, and game drives offer rewarding encounters with the Big
5.
Day
3 - 4, Lake Nakuru, Nairobi
Spend an afternoon in Lake Nakuru National Park, where you can get
close to the abundant rhino, and perhaps spot a leopard in a yellow
Acacia tree or a pride of lion relaxing under a tree. The following
day head for Nairobi and overnight in a centrally located hotel.
Day
5 - 6, Moshi, Lake Manyara
Travel from Nairobi by shuttle bus to Moshi in Tanzania via the
town of Arusha. From here begin a guided safari of Lake Manyara
National Park and enjoy an afternoon game drive amongst elephant,
giraffe, hippo and different antelope species. The park is dominated
by a soda lake that attracts thousands of flamingos, and from a
high Rift Valley escarpment the view of the pink fringed waters
are incredible.
Day
7 - 8, Olduvai Gorge, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater
Head for the open plains and rocky outcrops of the Serengeti National
Park that support huge numbers of game. Along the way visit Olduvai
Gorge, an archeological sight famous for many discoveries of fossilised
human bones that are thought to be the oldest found anywhere on
earth. After camping out in the wilds of the Serengeti, hunt for
game on an early morning game drive, before driving to the rim of
the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Camp at the top and survey the incredible
views of the crater, where game is so highly concentrated you can
make out the animals as dots on the crater floor some 700m below.
Day
9 - 10, Ngorongoro Crater, Moshi
The next morning, climb down the steep road into the crater for
a game drive and literally bump into many of Ngorongoro’s
30,000 animals. On the way back to Moshi where you overnight in
a hotel, visit a traditional Masai village to learn some of the
legendary culture of these pround and striking people. Take the
shuttle back to Nairobi, on Day 10.
