Adventure and game viewing, wild and free. An exciting 4x4 expedition off the beaten track in Botswana, including the mighty Victoria Falls.
Day 1 - 2, Nata, Makgadikgadi Pans
Early morning start from Johannesburg is required as we travel to our camp in Botswana on the edge of the impressive Sowa Salt Pan. The next day we take 4x4 wheel drives to explore the area and spend a night in this remote place. The following day we travel down the Maun Road to the Makgadikgadi Pans to view these spectacular depressions, renowned for the unique bird life and other desert species of animal they attract like the Springbok, Gemsbok and others.
Day 3 - 7, Maun, Okavango Delta
Start CB13
Upon arrival in Maun we conduct a walk to a local village for an insight into how the local inhabitants cope in this harsh desert like condition. Any fly-in passengers will join us in Maun this afternoon. The next day we travel to our remote camp in the Okavango Delta where we spend three nights in true wilderness, exploring the area on foot and by mokoro. There will be an opportunity of an optional flight over the delta before leaving the area (subject to availability).
Day 8 - 12, Moremi Game Reserve, Savuti, Chobe National Park
We spend a full five days traversing the remote game plains of Moremi, Savuti and Chobe on our way to Victoria Falls. Moremi is an area ideal for morning and afternoon game drives along the wetland areas. Savuti offers a multitude of eco-systems to explore. The vegetation is constantly changing from open plains, palm trees and marshland to dense Mopane woodlands. Chobe is famous for its large herds of elephant which gather on the flood plains of the majestic Chobe River.
Days 13 - 14, Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls, 'Mosi o Tunya' as the locals call it (translated, the smoke that thunders) is one of the wonders of the world and we have time here to enjoy a myriad of optional activities this watery playground has to offer. Check out the big tree, the curio market and crocodile farm, aircraft or microlight flight over the falls, a boat trip on the mighty Zambezi River and much much more! We spend two nights at the Falls and eat out at local restaurants for the two dinners (own expense). Relax to the sound of the African night and the distant roar of the Falls and drink to toast to your adventure.
Day 15, Victoria Falls - Nata
We bid the fly in passenger's farewell as we return to Botswana and journey back to Nata where we camp for our last night.
Day 16, Nata - Johannesburg
We aim to arrive in Johannesburg in the early evening where our tour finishes.
