a little piece of paradise.
Day 1, Zanzibar - Beach Resort
On arrival at Zanzibar Airport you are transferred to your beach resort just north of Stone Town. Situated in an idyllic setting, your resort boasts a swimming pool, bar and restaurant, while rooms are en suite with air conditioning. There is a safe swimming beach opposite the resort, part of a long palm fringed white sandy beach stretching some distance.
Day 2 - 4, Zanzibar, Spice Island tour, Beach Resort
Zanzibar is known as the 'Spice Island' and we go on a tour to see how these spices grow, smell and taste. You will also get the chance to purchase some spices. In the times before refrigeration, foodstuffs such as meat and fish which could not be eaten fresh were stored, sun-dried, oven-dried or salted. Spices greatly improved the flavour of these cured goods and were much in demand in the Middle East and Europe, commanding very high prices. Some spices that we will encounter include cloves, saffron, a variety of chillies, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and turmeric to name a few. You will also see fruit plantations, and maybe get the chance to climb a coconut tree! Back at the resort there are a number of water-based activities you can book from the resort including snorkelling and scuba diving, or tours of the Island and capital of Stone Town.
Day 5, Zanzibar
Our tour finishes after we drop you off at the airport for your onward journey.
