Explore Uganda's stunning game reserves and mountain scenery and then take an adventurous trek to view the magnificent mountain gorillas.
Day 1, Lake Mburo National Park
From Kampala, travel to Lake Mburo National Park of rolling hills and open grassy valleys dotted with lakes. Take an afternoon boat trip on Lake Mburo looking for hippo and crocodiles in the papyrus swamps, and perhaps the beautiful sitatunga, and unusual antelope that hides in the marshes, before returning to camp for a candlelit dinner under the stars.
Day 2, Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park
Enjoy a morning game walk in Lake Mburo National Park in search of buffalo, zebra and many of the park's smaller animals, before travelling to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which borders the dramatic mist covered Ruwenzori Mountains, otherwise known as 'Mountains of the Moon'. The beautiful park is renowned for its prolific bird life with over 550 species, and mammal life. The highlight here is an afternoon boat cruise through the Kazinga Channel which lies between the lakes of Edward and George to experience what is thought to be the densest population of hippo in the world. This is the place to get that photo of a hippo yawning!
Day 3 - 4, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi, Gorilla Tracking
This morning we enjoy and early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of animals not yet encountered then its onto Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Bwindi is home to approximately half of the world's population of mountain gorilla, of which less than 700 survive on earth. Tracking gorillas in their ancient homes is one of the most rewarding and special wildlife encounters in Africa, and the thrill of finding and observing these gentle giants in the heart of the forest is a memorable and moving experience.
Day 5, Kampala
Enjoy the drive back to Kampala through Uganda's fertile scenery where the tour ends.
