Explore the scenic lakes of the Great Rift Valley on the search for hippo, crocodiles and flocks of flamingos, and in the Masai Mara stalk the 'Big 5'.
Day 1, Great Rift Valley
From Nairobi we make our way across Kenya’s famous Rift Valley, to the magnificent Masai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is excellent for game viewing at any time of year and with luck we hope to spot some, if not all, of the ‘Big Five’ - elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard.
Day 2, Masai Mara Game Reserve
Today we explore the mighty Masai Mara on game drives. You'll soon see why the Mara has such an excellent reputation for diverse scenery and abundant wildlife and we have plenty of opportunity to search for the Big 5. The park has the largest population of well-fed lion in Kenya, and some of the biggest crocs in Africa are found in the Mara River - all thanks to the constant supply of ready-made meals in the way of thousands of grazing animals.
Day 3, Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru
After breakfast and make our way back across the Rift Valley, turning north to Lake Nakuru at the foot of the eastern escarpment of the Valley. We spend the remainder of the day in the Lake Nakuru National Park and the shallow soda lake famous for its bird life, and is also home to lion, rhino and if you're very lucky you may spot a leopard in the surrounding acacia tree forest.
Day 4, Lake Nakuru, Nairobi
If time allows we may take a quick look at Nakuru town before heading back to Nairobi where our safari ends.
