From deserts to mountain passes and onto the shimmering waters of the Atlantic, this short journey will give you an insight into the contrasts of Morocco
Day 1, Marrakech
This day is yours at leisure to explore the heart and soul of Marrakech, Djemma el Fna Square that comes alive at night with snake charmers and story tellers.
Day 2, Ait Benhaddou
We head south west over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, the highest vehicular pass in Morocco at 2200 metres and onto Ait Benhaddou. A World Heritage site the fortified village is a fine example of clay architecture, featuring in numerous films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Romancing the Stone and more recently, Gladiator.
Day 3 - 4, Imil, Armed
We leave the desert behind for the mountain air of the Atlas. Our route takes us along a road that hugs the side of a broad valley and comes to an end at Imlil. We walk to Armed with panoramic views of the mountains, valleys and waterfalls below. This is a great base from where we can explore the mountain-side on hikes.
Day 5 - 6, Essaouira
After the dry conditions of the Atlas the cool sea breezes of Essaouira are a welcome respite. This city is renowned as being laid back and you will find shopping here relaxed. For seafood lovers the harbour is a great place to indulge in freshly caught fish and crustaceans. For music lovers there are many restaurants with live music to sooth the night away.
Day 7 - 9, Marrakech
We have a relatively short drive back to Marrakech where you will have plenty of time to do any last minute shopping in the souks before our tour ends the following day.
