From the Orange River in the south to the Himba people in the north, this is Namibia in 14 days. Short on time then try a seven day package instead. - NC7N or NC7S
Day 1 - 4, Quiver Tree Forest, Fish River Canyon, Luderitz, Kolmanskop
Southern Namibia is a place of breathtaking natural beauty, and we visit the Quiver Tree forest in search of one of the world's rarest plants, the welwitscha, then then onto world's second largest canyon Fish River Canyon. We also visit the scenic Orange River, Namibia's southern border with South Africa where we camp on the tranquil banks. On the coast is the quirky fishing town of Luderitz, where you have the option to take a boat cruise to visit penguins and dolphins. This afternoon we take a tour of the Kolmanskop Ghost Town, a deserted diamond-mining town that is being slowly swallowed up by the encroaching dunes.
Day 5 - 7, Sossusvlei, Sesriem, Windhoek
Next are the sand dunes of Sesriem and Sossusvlei. As dawn breaks and we drive out to watch the incredible sunrise over the shimmering desert landscape and climb some of the world's highest sand dunes. We also take a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon. We return to Windhoek on day seven to prepare for the next leg of our journey.
Day 8 -10, Windhoek, Africat Foundation, Etosha National Park
From Windhoek head north to Okonjima Farm, home to the Africat Foundation, and spend the afternoon learning about this important project that introduces cheetah and leopard back into the wild. This is a great opportunity to see these magnificent cats at very close quarters. We then spend two nights in Etosha National Park, which has one of Africa's largest populations of black rhino and our camp is close to a floodlit waterhole where you may be lucky enough to see game come down to drink during the night.
Day 11 - 14, Damaraland, Oase Himba, Twyfelfontein, Swakopmund, Windhoek
Leaving Etosha we drive a short distance to a Himba village to learn more about this desert culture. In Damaraland we see some bushman paintings at Twyfelfontein. On the Atlantic coast witness the remarkable sight of thousands of seals at Cape Cross Seal Colony, and enjoy some of the optional excursions at the seaside town of Swakopmund, famous for its adventure activities and vibrant night life. From here, it's back to Windhoek
