Uncover the mysteries of ancient Egypt with the best of sightseeing in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor and a relaxing cruise on the River Nile by felucca.
Day 1 - 3, Cairo, Pyramids and Sphinx
On arrival in Cairo you will be transferred from the airport to your hotel, before enjoying a full day's sightseeing to the Pyramids, Sphinx and Saqqara. The sight of these extraordinary structures rising out of the desert is spectacular. The following day is free for you to explore the other highlights of Cairo or take an optional city tour, before the overnight first class train to Aswan.
Day 4 - 6, Aswan, Felucca Cruise
In Aswan we visit the Temple of Philae in the afternoon and the following morning is free were you have the option of flying to Abu Simbel to see the incredible statues of Ramses overlooking Lake Nasser (own expense). The next couple of days are spent drifting down the Nile on a felucca past villages frozen in time and falling asleep beneath a blanket of stars (luxury cruise upgrade available on request).
Day 7 - 8, Luxor, West and East banks
We leave the felucca after breakfast and drive to Luxor with stops to visit the remarkable temples of Edfu and Kombo. We visit Luxor Temple and the spectacular Temple of Karnak, the largest temple of its kind in the world, and across the Nile the Valley of the Kings. Here is the burial ground for the great pharaohs, including that of Tutankhamen, where the tombs are decorated with incredible drawings and colourful reliefs.
Day 9 - 10, Cairo
We arrive back into Cairo in the early morning after our overnight train journey where the rest of the day is free. The following day you are transferred to the airport to meet your flight. Alternatively you can fly home in the afternoon on day nine if your flight is after 1400hrs
