An action packed safari which explores the best of South Africa's game parks, coastlines, mountain scenery and adventure centres in comfort.
DAY 1 - 2, Mpumalanga, Balule Game Reserve
From Johannesburg head to Mpumalanga, and spend a full day exploring the scenic mountains, canyons and waterfalls. From here, descend the escarpment to the lowveld to a private bushveld camp in the Balule Game Reserve which borders the Kruger National Park, where all the major animals can be found. The following day is spent exploring the game reserve on day and night drives and by foot.
DAY 3 - 4, Hazyview, Kruger NP
Today we travel to the sleepy settlement of Hazyview and stay in a log cabin situated spectacularly on stilts in indigenous subtropical forest on the banks of the Sabie River. In the world famous Kruger National Park, spend the whole day game viewing in a diversity of habitats that support a magnificent array of animal and bird life, and there's also the option of going on a night drive. Spend one night in a park rest camp.
DAY 5 - 6, Swaziland, Zululand
Head south and journey through the Kingdom of Swaziland and Zululand, dotted with traditional homesteads and curio markets, and home to cultures as old as Africa itself. Enjoy walking trails in the sand forest adjoining St Lucia and an open vehicle game drive in Hluhluwe.
DAY 7, Dolphin Coast
Spend a night on the Dolphin Coast just north of Durban and enjoy a walk along the long white sandy beach and a swim in the Indian Ocean.
DAY 8 - 9, Drakensberg
After a short visit to Durban, travel to the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, known by the Zulu as the 'Barrier of Spears'. Hike and explore pristine mountain landscapes, which are today a National Heritage Site for outstanding natural beauty. We can also visit bushman paintings and a vulture colony here.
DAY 10 - 12, Ladybrand, Karoo
On the border with Lesotho, visit the Golden Gate National Park, renowned for its towering cliffs and golden rocks. Head into the Karoo interior, a vast and arid semi-desert of empty landscapes and enormous skies.
Day 13 - 15, Garden Route
From the Karoo head south and to Graaff-Reinet, before crossing the Outeniqua Mountains to the Garden Route. Spend three nights in cosy log cabins hidden in the heart of the Knysna forest, where activities include a boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon, a visit to the Tsitsikamma National Park where you can take a short hike along the coast to Storms River. There is an option to try the highest bungy in the world at Bloukrans Bridge.
DAY 16 - 18, Cape Town
From the Garden Route head to Cape Town, via De Hoop Nature Reserve, for a few days exploration of the many highlights on offer, including Table Mountain, Cape Point and Hout Bay to name but a few. The tour ends in the late afternoon of Day 18.
