out South Africa's amazing highlights in one hit!
Day
1, Panorama region
From Johannesburg, we travel to Mpumalanga Province and the scenic
Panorama region to view the Blyde River Canyon, the third largest
canyon in the world, and the tumbling waterfalls of Bourke’s
Luck Potholes. We stay near the old gold mining town of Pilgrim’s
Rest.
Day
2 - 3, Kruger National Park
We spend two nights in Kruger National Park, and with cameras and
binoculars at the ready, explore the untamed wilderness on game
drives in search of the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard
and rhino. There is also the option of going on a spotlighted night
drive with the park rangers in search of the nocturnal animals.
Day
4, Swaziland, Malolotja Nature Reserve
We cross into the highlands of the Kingdom of Swaziland, and Malolotja
Nature Reserve, a wild region of mountains and forest where the
best way to explore is by foot in search of the various antelope
and bird life.
Day
5, Mkuze Game Reserve
Back in South Africa, we head into Zululand and explore the Mkuze
Game Reserve, a safe haven for the endangered black rhino and many
thousands of the shy and attractive antelope, the nyala.
Day
6, Battlefields
We head into the battlefields region of KwaZulu Natal where the
wars between the Boers, British and Zulu Impis raged in the 18th
century, and visit Rouke’s Drift and Isandhlwana battlefields
and the Tulana Museum before setting up camp near Dundee.
Day
7 – 8, Drakensberg Mountains
The Drakensberg are known as the ‘Barrier of Spears’
in the Zulu language and are today a World Heritage Site for their
outstanding natural beauty, known for their vertical rock faces,
grassy alpine slopes and thundering waterfalls. Enjoy a full day
of hiking, horse riding or swimming.
Day
9 - 11, Wild Coast, Grahamstown, Addo Elephant National Park
We travel through green rolling hills and Xhosa villages and spend
two nights on the rugged and remote Wild Coast with its wide swathes
of empty beaches, the perfect place for hiking and isolated beach
walks. We stop in the historical city of Grahamstown, full of quaint
churches, museums, and monuments to the original 1820s settlers,
and get close to the large herds of elephant in Addo Elephant National
Park.
Day
12 - 13, Garden Route
We reach the Garden Route and stop at the Tsitsikamma National Park,
an area of exquisite forest and pounding waves where you may spot
dolphins, and visit the resort town of Knysna known for its curio
and artist’s shops and oyster restaurants. If you dare, there
is the option to experience the highest bungee jump in the world
at 217m.
Day
14, Oudtshoorn
We cross the Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, and take a tour
of the world renowned Cango Caves and have some fun at an ostrich
