Day 1 – 3, South Luangwa National Park

From Malawi’s capital Lilongwe, we cross the border into Zambia, to the isolated South Luangwa National Park, one of the oldest and wildest parks in Africa. We spend three nights in this diverse and fascinating park where the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its lagoons is among the most intense in Africa.

Day 4, Lilongwe
From Luangwa National Park, we journey back to Lilongwe for the night and stock up with supplies in the colourful market.

Day 5 – 6, Mulanji Massif
We head south to the Mulanji Massif, rising from the Phalombe Plain, the highest mountain in Malawi at 3003m. A variety of footpaths lead up into the picturesque mountains and we spend the day hiking through the towering peaks, waterfalls and streams.

Day 7 - 8, Liwonde National Park
Liwonde National park is situated on the Shire River which flows out of Lake Malawi, which supports a large diversity of wildlife and birds including elephant and large pods of hippo, we explore on game drives and by river cruise.

Day 9 – 11, Cape McClear
Following the lake shore south, we reach the idyillic resort of Cape McClear on the southern shores of Lake Malawi, and camp for three nights on the beach in the Lake Malawi National Park. Here you can snorkel around Otter Point to see the lake’s colourful and endemic tropical fish.

Day 12, Cheetah Sanctuary
We travel back north along the lake shore to another resort near Senga Bay, where we camp on a magnificent swathe of beach surrounded by giant boulders. Here there is a range of water sports to try, a curio market to visit, or simply relax on the edge of the warm waters of Lake Malawi.

Day 13 – 14, Lilongwe
We make our way back to the starting point in Lilongwe, where there is time to explore the friendly city and enjoy the comforts of guest house accommodation.
