Combine the thrill of big game safaris in Kruger, with beautiful Zululand, the idyllic and relaxing beaches of tropical Mozambique, the Drakensberg Mountains, the Wild Coast, and the Garden Route.

Day 1 - 2, Johannesburg, Kruger National Park
From Johannesburg, we travel to the Kruger National Park and spend the best part of two days exploring the park in the hope of glimpsing Africa’s diverse wildlife on game drives. The Kruger is home to over 500 species of birds and 137 mammals, including the Big 5 – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard.

Day 3, Swaziland, Hlane Game Reserve
In the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland we camp in the Hlane Game Reserve that’s owned by the King, and is best known for game walks in search of elephant, rhino and the fascinating birdlife.

Day 4, Southern Mozambique

We depart from Hlane and cross the border post with Mozambique to visit one of the coastal resorts and the afternoon is at leisure on the beach next to the warm and inviting Indian Ocean.

Day 5, Kosi Bay
Back in South Africa, we travel to the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, an area of sweeping beaches, great fertile estuaries, mangrove forests and lakes which we explore by boat and foot. We also visit the Kosi Bay River mouth and snorkel in its crystal clear waters and watch the local fisherman gather their nets in the estuary.

Day 6, Hluhluwe-Imfolezi Game Reserve, St Lucia
The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve is home to the Big 5 and one third of the world’s population of rhino, and the park offers excellent game viewing opportunities. After our game drive, we travel through rural Zululand and camp near the spectacular Lake St Lucia. This is one of the world’s largest wetland ecosystems that supports reefs, beaches, grasslands and swamp that is home to large numbers of crocodile and hippo.

Day 7, Durban
We leave St Lucia, and drive along the coast to Durban where we enjoy a night out in this vibrant city.

Day 8 - 9, Southern Drakensberg

Head into the Drakensberg Mountains, dubbed the ‘barrier of spears’ by the Zulu, and camp for two nights enjoying the fresh mountain air and hiking. Climb up the torturous Sani Pass, one of the most dramatic roads in the world as it snakes and corkscrews up the steep escarpment into Lesotho.

Day 10 - 11, Wild Coast
Visit the Nelson Mandela Museum a glimpse of the country’s history, before spending two nights on the Wild Coast. Rugged and dramatic, with wide swathes of empty beach, this is the perfect place for hiking and isolated beach walks.

Day 12, Addo Elephant National Park

This is Africa’s most southerly elephant population, and the park is a major conservation success story, where you will get close to the many herds of elephant, as well as buffalo and possibly newly-introduced lion.

Day 13 - 15, Garden Route
Spend the next three nights in the Tsitsikamma National Park and camp between the pounding surf on one side and the forested slopes on the other. Over the next couple of days explore the highlights of the Garden Route, including the white beaches of Plettenberg Bay, the laid back resort of Knysna, and there are a number of exciting optional activities to keep you active.

Day 16, Outdshoorn
Travel inland over the Ouiteniqua Pass into the semi arid Karoo to visit the world famous Cango Caves, and one of the ostrich farms that Oudtshoorn is famous for, to ride an ostrich and learn a little more about what is the world’s largest bird.

Day 17, Hermanus

We head back to the coast and explore the pretty coastal town of Hermanus, where in season, whales enter the bay to breed. This is some of the best land based whale watching in Africa.

Day 18 - 19, Cape Town
We reach Cape Town, the ‘mother city, and our final morning is spent on a tour of the Cape Point Nature Reserve to see the lighthouse at the Cape of Good Hope, before heading back into Cape Town where our eventful tour ends in the afternoon in the shadow of Table Mountain.
