The
Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are the best known game
parks of East Africa - experience them all in a comprehensive 9
day lodge safari in Kenya and Tanzania.
Day
1 - 2, Masai Mara Game Reserve
From Nairobi we take a short flight to the Masai Mara Game Resaerve,
where you are met at the airstrip and transferred to your lodge
perched on the edge of the Mara River. We spend two nights staying
in the park, and explore the Mara on afternoon and early morning
game drives. With luck we hope to spot some, if not all, of the
Big 5 - elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard.
Day
3 - 4, Amboseli National Park
We return to the airstrip and catch our flight back to Nairobi,
and once there have lunch at the famous Carnivore’s Restaurant,
where a full range of game meat is cooked and served on to your
plate from Masai spears. Then we drive to Amboseli National Park
that we explore on game drives and enjoy the ever present view of
Kilimanjaro as it towers above the plains.
Day
5, Arusha
Today we leave Kenya and cross the border into Tanzania, and travel
to the safari capital of Arusha, where we stay in the shadow of
Mt Meru.

6 - 7, Tarangire National Park
Tarangire is a small park but it has unrivalled landscapes of open
plains dotted with thousands of baobab trees. It is home to some
exceptionally large herds of elephant and our lodge for two nights
is beautifully located on a bluff overlooking the Tarangire River.
Day
8, Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is a World Heritage Site with a biosphere
of such concentrated fauna and flora within that it is second to
none. We drive down the steep access road into the crater for a
few hours of excellent game viewing, and if lucky, will see prides
of lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, Thompson’s gazelle, wildebeest
and zebra. We stay at a lodge on the crater rim and the views to
the floor some 700m below are breathtaking.
Day 9, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha
We take a last game drive in the Lake Manyara National Park, famous
for its tree climbing lion, and pelicans, storks and herons share
Lake Manyara with migrant flamingos, which turn the crystalline
edges of the soda lake a vibrant pink. We end the tour in Arusha
in the late afternoon.
