A
short tour along South Africa’s famous and scenic Garden Route
that takes in the highlights of the coast and mountains.
Day
1, Oudtshoorn
From Cape Town we climb over Sir Lowry’s Pass and drive through
the apple orchards and rural scenery of the Western Cape to the
charming town of Swellendam. From here we cross some spectacular
mountain passes via the pretty towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp
to Oudtshoorn where we spend the night in a country lodge.
Day
2, Knysna
There is the option of visiting the intriguing Cango Caves, ride
ostriches at an ostrich farm and view cheetahs, crocodiles and many
other cats at an animal ranch. We continue to Mossel Bay and visit
the Diaz Museum and the Post Office Tree, before heading along the
scenic coast to Knysna, the Garden Route’s premier resort,
famous for its oysters and artists.
Day
3, Port Elizabeth
Optional activities around Knysna include an early morning boat
cruise on the Knysna Lagoon and a visit to the Tsitsikamma National
Park, where you can take a short hike along the rugged coast to
Storms River. Our afternoon journey goes through Plettenberg Bay
and our tour ends at your chosen hotel in Port Elizabeth.
