The
ultimate wilderness luxury tented safari combining Botswana’s
landscapes, prime game viewing, and camping out, for a taste of
the real African bush.
Day
1 – 2, Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve
On arrival in Maun, you will be met at the airport by your guide
and begin the journey to Moremi Game Reserve, where you camp for
two nights in an exclusive wilderness campsite in the Xakanaxa region.
We explore this remote and wild park on game drives, on search of
the big game including the elusive wild dog, and it is claimed that
the Moremi contains about 30% of all living wild dog. Botswana’s
famous Okavango Delta is one of the world’s last untameable
wildernesses and the labyrinth of lagoons and hidden channels covering
an area of over 15 000 sq km is the largest inland delta in the
world. The Okavango is a unique ecosystem where the Okavango River
fans out into the largest continuous stretch of sand in the world
- the Kalahari Desert. This forms an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable
landscape, and the Moremi Game Reserve is located in the north eastern
corner of the delta.
Day
2 - 3, Okavango Delta
Today we embark on an adventure deep into the heart
of the Okavango Delta, exploring the endless network of crystal
clear waterways and secret lagoons by motor boat, and the surrounding
palm fringed islands on foot. You will spend the night camping on
a remote island with only the bear essentials, and as the animals
frequently hunt for prey at night, staying here will definitely
make you feel that you are in the heart of wildest Africa.
Day
4 - 6, Okavango Delta, Khwai region
We return to dry land and make our way towards the Khwai region
of the delta on the border of Moremi, exploring the area on game
drives both during the day and at night. After dark game viewing
with spotlights offers you an opportunity to spot some of the nocturnal
animals rarely encountered during the day. We also track game on
foot, and learn much about the spoor and behaviour of the animals
from our knowledgeable guides.
Day 7, Maun
Our final day is spent heading back to Maun where you are transferred
to the airport to meet your connecting flight where the tour ends.
