Lesotho

Summer is the rainy season with most rainfall occurring Oct-Apr especially in the mountains. Moderate probability of snow in the highlands from May-Aug. Hottest period is Dec-Feb.

Swaziland

Temperatures are rarely excessive except in the low veld where they can become uncomfortable. In the high veld the climate is more temperate because of the altitude and frosts may occur in winter. Rainfall is limited to summer months (Oct-Mar) but prolonged periods of rain are rare.

Jordan

80% of the country is desert where summers are consistantly hot and sunny but occasionally can have cold winters with snow on high ground. What rainfall there is falls in winter and spring. The north western area is hilly and is the wettest region with rainfall between Nov-Mar. To the west of this area, in the River Jordan Valley, winters are mild and summers especially hot and there is little rainfall.

Madagascar

Temperatures are governed by altitude. The lowlands are hot and humid especially during the rainy period. Rainfall is highest on the east coast and decreases on the interior plateau and in the west and south. The south experiences a rainy season between Dec-Mar, the central plateau between Nov-Mar & the east coast is wet for much of the year. Torrential rain and high winds due to tropical cyclones can affect the island several times a year.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia has a mainly tropical climate which is moderated by altitude and has a definite wet season. The eastern lowlands are much drier with a hot desert type climate. In the highlands temperatures are rarely hot and rain mainly falls between Apr-Sep. Night temperatures can be low especially during the dry season and some snow may fall on the highest peaks. In the west there is mainly one wet season between Jul-Aug. North eastern and south eastern lowlands have high temperatures and low rainfall.
