DAYS 1 - 7
Nairobi, Masai Mara, Serengeti Ngorongoro Crater
From Nairobi we cross the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Our camp gives us easy access to the park for gamedrives for our two days in Kenya’s premier wildlife park. Crossing into Tanzania to Arusha, we meet the local Maasai and have opportunity to browse the markets before transferring to 4x4s for our excursion to the Serengeti National Park, Olduvai Gorge and Ngorongoro Crater.
DAYS 8 - 14
Zanzibar, Mikumi, Malawi
We pass Mt. Kilimanjaro en route to Dar es Salaam and the Indian Ocean and cross by ferry to Zanzibar for three days on this magical island. Explore Stone Town’s alleyways and markets but leave time for the beach. Returning to the mainland, we drive via Mikumi to Malawi.
NB Basic shared accommodation is included on Zanzibar however meals will be for your own account allowing you to experience some of the many different options available on Zanzibar. Please refer to the tour dossier (available below) for more information.
DAYS 15 - 21
Lake Malawi, Lusaka, Zambia
Malawi’s main attraction is the enormous Lake Malawi, Africa’s third-largest lake and ideal for swimming and relaxation. We camp along the lake-shore and have opportunity to try diving, snorkelling, sailing or else visit a local village. We leave Malawi and cross into Zambia and drive to Lusaka.
DAYS 22 - 24
Livingstone
We continue to Livingstone and the Victoria Falls area. In addition to its awesome beauty the area is known as Africa’s ‘adventure’ capital: try rafting, scenic flights, canoeing or bungy. Alternatively, relax and enjoy the beauty of the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls area.
DAYS 25 - 30
Chobe National Park, Okavango Delta
Leaving Livingstone we cross into Botswana to Chobe National Park where a popular option is to take an afternoon river cruise inside the park. You also have the option of an early morning game drive before we travel to Maun, and the nearby Okavango Delta. We venture out into the Okavango with local guides (‘polers’) and dug-out canoes (mokoros), camping overnight on one of the islands.
DAYS 31 - 34
Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Johannesburg
We continue to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary before crossing into South Africa to Johannesburg for a few days relaxation in South Africa’s most exciting city.
DAYS 35 - 38
Kruger National Park, Swaziland, Royal Milwane
Leaving Johannesburg we drive through Mpumalanga to Kruger, South Africa’s best known gamepark. We game-drive in search of Africa’s ‘big five’ (leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and elephant) before continuing to Swaziland, a mountainous landlocked kingdom. We have 2 nights here and visit Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, the Royal Enclosure and local craft markets.
DAYS 39 - 46
Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, Durban, Addo Elephant Park
We cross back into South Africa we visit Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi Game Reserve and St Lucia before driving down the coast to Durban. After a day in the city we continue through the rugged Wild Coast to Cintsa. We continue to the Addo Elephant National Park, sanctuary for buffalo, rhino, antelope and elephant, and the Tsitsikamma National Park where hardwood forest meets rugged ocean coastline.
DAYS 47 - 48
Hermanus, Cape Town
We continue to Hermanus, and the Cape area, renowned for vineyards and Cape Town, one of the world’s most picturesque cities, where our tour ends.
