This safari will take the tourist through Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, visiting many game parks along the way. Among other animals, wild dogs and elephants in particular are in abundance. The tour also includes canoe poling in the Okavango Delta.
Day 1
Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park
Your start point is either in Livingstone (Zambia) or Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) where you are picked up and transferred to the border with Botswana. Changing onto our open vehicle we spend the afternoon game driving in Chobe National Park renowned for its huge herds of elephant.
Day 2 – 3
Savuti, Linyanti, Moremi Game Reserve
The Savuti Marsh, a relic of a large inland lake fed occasionally by the Savuti Channel. The region is also made up of rolling savannah which attracts many different species of antelope and herds of zebra wildebeest, buffalo and elephant. These in turn attract many predators including lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog. Nestled next to the Okavango Delta waters the Moremi Reserve offers unrivalled game viewing. The combination of different habitats from Mopane woodlands to Acacia forests, foodplains and lagoons make this area a stunning place of beauty, enhanced by the diverse array of wildlife found here.
Day 4 – 7
Maun, Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi Pans, Kasane, Victoria Falls
We continue to Maun, gateway to the Okavango Delta and journey for a day in the ‘Delta’ in mokoros (dug out canoes) and take a game walk in search of elephant, wild dog, buffalo, lion and more. From Maun we travel to the Makgadikgadi Pans – vast shimmering salt flats on the edge of the Kalahari basin. We travel back towards Kasane and transfer vehicles again at the border with Zimbabwe and onto Victoria Falls. We enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River this evening.
Day 8 – 9
Victoria Falls, Wild Dog Project, night game drive, Hwange National Park
We travel to Hwange National Park. At over 14,600 sq km in area this is Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve. We visit the Hwange Wild Dog project to learn something of these endangered predators and their struggle to survive. We take a night game and a full day game driving in this ‘Big Five’ game park.
